Some of us met up in Houston for the Fun Ford Weekend at Baytown Raceway Park on April 19th, 1997.  Sam Bulger also made it, but only three of us actually SHOwed our cars in the car show.  None of the SHOs won a prize, but we had stiff competition from a couple of dozen Mustangs (new and old), the entire Ford Falcon Club of Houston (who sponsored the car show) as well a couple of kit Shelby Cobras and other Ford HiPerformance vehicles.

Besides the car show (where we spent most of the day) we also saw lots of drag racing, both street cars and race cars.  Best event was the two turbine jet powered cars that deafened us with their ~7 second quarter mile dragrace.  If you've ever been to an airshow, imagine a fighter jet flying down the runway at full throttle during takeoff - within several hundred feet of you.  THAT'S how loud it was.. ;-)
