Quake Information

I've been playing on Quake (well, actually Quakeworld) since it came out.  The fun you can have playing an interactive game on the 'net cannot be understood until it is experienced.  If you play Quake on the net, say hi if you see me online - my online "handle" is Hawkwind.  Here are a couple of the better Quake News sites - they also contain links to download the shareware version of Quake in case you've been under a rock somewhere and missed this game...

      Capture The Flag!
 

One of the many "modifications" to Quake got me "hooked" into playing the game even more.  Capture the Flag (known as CTF) is even more fun that regular deathmatch (a "every man for himself" game) because of the teamwork required to win.  I kept jumping into games in progress, trying to help whatever team I was on win, but it didn't take too long before I found a group of players I "clicked" with.  After playing on their server for awhile, they asked me to join their "clan", which is affiliated with an ISP in California.  Click on the image below for more details on that.

Quake 2 was released recently, it's even better than the first!  When I play Q2 on the 'net I can usually be found on the quake.hal-pc.org when I'm in a "deathmatch" mood, or my clan's home server, quake.softcom.net when I feel like a game of CTF.   Click on the button below for iD software's Q2 site!
